Florida sunlight is beautiful, but it can also add heat, glare and fading inside the home. Window shades cannot replace insulation or air conditioning, but the right fabric can make rooms feel more comfortable and protect furnishings from harsh sun.
Cellular shades trap air within their honeycomb structure, creating a soft insulating layer at the window. They are a strong option for bedrooms, living rooms and windows that receive long periods of direct sun.
Solar shades reduce glare while preserving some view to the outside. Openness factor matters: lower openness generally means more privacy and sun control, while higher openness keeps more view.
For media rooms, bedrooms and intense west-facing windows, room-darkening or blackout fabrics can significantly reduce light and radiant heat. For the cleanest result, pay attention to side gaps and mount style.
For Jacksonville, St. Augustine, Ponte Vedra, Nocatee and nearby areas, we usually recommend balancing heat control with the amount of daylight you still want in the room.
