How to Measure for Custom Blinds and Shades
Good measuring is the foundation of a clean, professional-looking window treatment. Start with the mount type
An inside mount fits within the window frame for a tailored built-in look. Measure the width at the top, middle and bottom, then use the narrowest measurement. Measure the height at the left, center and right, then use the longest measurement. Also check the frame depth so the blind or shade has enough room to operate.
An outside mount covers the frame and usually gives more privacy and light control. Measure the area you want covered, not just the glass. Many homeowners add extra width on both sides and extra height above the window to reduce light gaps.
